Hey there, my friend—
While I was out on what I’ve deemed my Clarity Walk today, I passed a cluster of yellow flowers blooming in muddy water.
It hit me (for the 3,647,923rd time)...
That’s the work right there.
Creating beauty in the middle of the mess.
This week’s newsletter is a day late.
There’s just more to do than there are hours in the day. Always is. But summertime… even more so.
Kids getting out early from school. Appointments. Errands.
And next week? Full days with a full house.
Summer sports. Zero predictability.
Historically, summer is not my friend.
Not because I don’t love my kids. Not because I don’t love warm weather.
But because I also love structure. Predictability. Space to think and work.
And when that structure disappears, I catch myself bracing… reacting… chasing calm instead of choosing it.
Let’s talk about chasing.
Chasing control. Chasing peace. Chasing the "perfect" circumstances to feel how we want to feel.
I’ve been there. I feel the pull toward it almost every day.
But here’s the truth I’m claiming this week:
You don’t have to chase peace when you remember that you are the one who creates it.
Circumstances don’t get to decide the quality of my experience.
I do.
And so, if this resonates, I invite you to join with me in saying...
THIS ENDS NOW
Identify one habit, belief, or behavior that’s no longer serving you—and let it go.
The chase for ideal conditions.
You know the story: Once things settle down, then I’ll be able to focus.
Once the kids are back in school… once this project wraps up… once I get a break… then I’ll feel grounded again.
But that story keeps you stuck.
Because life doesn’t settle down.
Not for long. Not in any lasting way.
Waiting for circumstances to align is like waiting for the wind to stop before you light the candle.
This ends now.
The belief that everything has to go right in order for you to feel right.
That your inner calm depends on outer calm.
You’re not at the mercy of what’s happening around you.
You are the leader of what’s happening within you.
THIS MOMENT MATTERS
One simple, actionable step to take to create a ripple effect of change in your life
Be the leader, not the chaser.
This summer, choose to lead—your schedule, your energy, your experience.
Not from a place of control.
But from presence.
From intention.
From remembering that peace isn’t passive—it’s a practice.
So in the moments when the kids are loud…
When the time is short…
When the to-do list is still long…
Take a breath.
Reground.
Return to the truth:
I don’t have to chase calm.
I can bring it.
Where are you waiting for something to settle down before you settle in?
Leadership isn’t about having more time or the perfect calendar.
It’s about choosing your energy—how you walk into the room, how you move through the day, how you return to center when everything pulls you off.
You can’t always choose your circumstances.
But you can choose how you meet them.
This week, practice leading your energy—even when the moment feels muddy.
Especially then.
Up we go—
