Hey there, my friend—

I hope this finds you well on a Tuesday morning.

I’m grateful to be home this week after traveling for a keynote in Denver last week... but I’m still reflecting on something someone told me after the session:

“I felt like you were my pastor speaking to me.”

I’ve thought about that a lot.

Because in a world of strategies and slide decks, I’m learning…
it’s not what we present
it’s how we show up
that really creates transformation.

I will never take these sacred meetings for granted.

Speaking of showing up...

We also celebrated my wife’s birthday over the weekend. I thought I had planned the perfect little European escape in German Village. And it rained all day. ☔️

Ugh. But isn’t that the classic metaphor for life?

It wasn’t what we planned… it was what we made of it.

And that brings me to today’s message.

Why We Resist Endings—and How to Break Through

Let’s be honest:

Endings scare us.

Not because we’re weak.

But because we’re wired to fear the unknown.
Because we’ve been taught that letting go equals failure.
Because we confuse discomfort with danger.

But here’s the truth:

Most of what we call resistance…
is actually protection.

Protection from fear.
From grief.
From uncertainty.
From that liminal space where you’re no longer who you were… but not yet who you’ll become.

But if you’re reading this…
you’re already sensing it:

The cost of staying the same is starting to outweigh the fear of change.

That’s where the shift begins.

THIS ENDS NOW

Identify one habit, belief, or behavior that’s no longer serving you—and let it go.

Mistaking endings for loss.

Most of us resist endings because we think they mean something is broken.

But what if the ending isn’t a failure… it’s a form of freedom?

THIS MOMENT MATTERS

One simple, actionable step to take to create a ripple effect of change in your life

Reframe endings.

Try one of these reframes:

  • Cognitive Reframing
Ask: “What might this ending be making space for?”
  • Narrative Reconstruction
This isn’t failure—it’s a plot twist in your Hero’s Journey.
  • The Neutral Zone
That awkward in-between? It’s not empty. It’s fertile. It’s the womb where your next version is being formed.

Give it space. Trust the unfolding.

If you’re wrestling with an ending today, maybe you don’t need to do anything. Maybe you just need to tell the truth:

“This is over. And that’s okay.”

You don’t have to know what’s next.
You just have to stop resisting what already is.

And if you’d like, hit reply and let me know what landed with you.
Is there a belief or behavior you’re ready to release?

I read every response.
Because this isn’t just a newsletter—
it’s a space to come home to yourself.

Up we go—
