We live in a world that’s changing faster than ever. Technology, AI, global uncertainty… it’s enough to make even seasoned leaders question how to show up today.
That’s why, when I had a chance to interview my friend and mentor, Robert H. Thompson, for an upcoming podcast episode, I asked him:
What does leadership require today that’s different from two or five or 10 years ago?
He answered with one word:
The word that springs to mind right now out of everything that I've done is CARE. Care for those around you, care for yourself. Self-awareness of how you're interacting with others. Reflect on that. Constantly.
Did you catch that?
Leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about caring.
In times of fear and uncertainty, people don’t need another manager who’s obsessed with the bottom line. They need someone who cares enough to ask: How are you doing? How is my behavior impacting you? What do you need to thrive?
And here’s the moment that matters: you can start today. Caring doesn’t require a promotion, a corner office, or a new strategy deck. It’s as simple as choosing to notice, choosing to listen, choosing to care.

THIS ENDS NOW
Identify one habit, belief, or behavior that’s no longer serving you—and let it go.
End the belief that leadership is about control, titles, or authority.
End the illusion that results alone define your worth as a leader.
THIS MOMENT MATTERS
One simple, actionable step to take to create a ripple effect of change in your life.
Choose to care—today.
Ask one person on your team (or in your life): “How are you, really?” Then listen with no agenda.
That’s leadership in its purest form.
If this message resonated, I’d love for you to share it with someone who needs the reminder today.
And if you want to hear the full conversation with Robert—packed with wisdom on leading in times of change—stay tuned. I’ll be releasing the full podcast episode soon.
